STI Days 2014 Workshop on “Climate Change and Water Resources: Knowledge Gaps and Research needs“

The workshop on “Climate Change and Water Resources: Knowledge Gaps and Research Need”, organized by Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) took place on 21 Jan 2014 within the frame of the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Days, Bangkok, Thailand 21-23 January 2014. The workshop gained prime attention during the event as water being one of the major societal challenges in the SEA region and globally. The session was also broadcasted live with the technical supports from United Nations University (UNU-EHS). Around sixty participants attended the workshop while around thirty followed the workshop through live telecast.

The availability of clean water is a major global challenge for the future due to rapidly growing population and urbanization where further stress in water resources is expected due to the impact of climate change. This workshop discusses the wide range of impacts of these preconditions such as changes in hydrology, moisture availability, spatial and temporal variatons in magnitude of stream flow or the dwindling of water levels.

ASEAN-EU STI Days 2014 - Bangkok/Thailand

SEA-EU-Net II organizes the first ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days from January 21st - 23rd in Bangkok / Thailand! The ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days serve as a visible forum for cooperation activities between the two regions in the field of STI. The event addresses researchers from most thematic areas – with a focus on the societal challenges with relevance to both regions – as well policy makers, research conducting companies and innovation managers. It takes place annually, alternating between an ASEAN and a European country. High-level policy makers as well as many research projects and companies seize the chance to network, discuss, exchange and inform themselves.
