First EU-SEA Alumni Network Meeting
Published on
The first EU-SEA Alumni Network meeting was organised on 11 July 2014, in the city of Da Nang, Vietnam by the National Agency for Science & Technology Information with support from the FP7 funded SEA-EU-NET project and EURAXESS Links ASEAN.
The objective of the meeting was to bring together European alumni associations from across Southeast Asia to discuss what role they might play in supporting and promoting S&T cooperation between researchers in Europe and Southeast Asia. Participants included alumni association representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos PDR and Thailand. They represented alumni who had studied in France, Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom as well as alumni of the Erasmus Mundus program.
Meeting participants agreed to the formation of a network alliance comprising alumni association representatives, SEA-EU-NET, and EURAXESS Links ASEAN. Through this network information on European funding and fellowships will be shared with the tens of thousands of European alumni living and working in Southeast Asia. The alumni associations will also play a key role in forming research partnerships through scientific workshops and brokerage events.
